Walking The Road of Christ
Passion Week 2011
Once again this year, the Lord would not let me rest until I
completed this devotional for our church body. This daily
devotional is for the week leading up to Easter and is designed
to help us interact with the story of Jesus in fresh ways.
On my recent journey to Israel, I was struck by the fact that at
many locations, to get to the first century street level and really
walk where Jesus walked you might actually have to dig ten or
more feet below where we walk today. Over time, centuries of
lives have occurred. Wars have destroyed and people have
rebuilt on top of those places. Much of life has passed and now
to get to that first century place again, you have to dig through a
lot of history to uncover it.
The same can happen in our own lives. Often, for us to get
back to that place where we once walked with Jesus in a close
and meaningful way, a lot of life has to be dug down through. It
is not that Jesus has disappeared or left us, but perhaps we
have covered him up with a lot of life. As a result, we don‟t see
him, we can‟t respond to him.
My prayer for you is that perhaps this week you will identify
areas and begin to dig down through your life to uncover the
place where you first met and walked with Jesus. May you
uncover those areas of your life so you can walk again with
Christ and experience His passion and love for you.
“ask where the
good way is,
and walk in it,”
Jer 6:16
