Daily Prayer guide - Thursday, March 26, God is Omniscient - He knows everything!

God is Omniscient -  He knows everything!
Psalm 147:5
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.”

Isaiah 46: 9-10
Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.
I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come.

Hebrews 4:13
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

We live in the information age, we long for data and believe that the more of it we gain the better we will be equipped to solve our problems and avoid future ones.  We watch endless streams of news so we can be informed, read countless posts, and listen to many experts we have never heard of so we can develop strategies to respond to the challenges we face.

We must remember that God alone knows everything that has, is and will ever happen.  He knows how everything is ordered and how creation is to work.

God knows instantly and effortlessly all matter and all matters, all mind and every mind, all spirit and all spirits, all being and every being, all creaturehood and all creatures, every plurality and all pluralities, all law and every law, all relations, all causes, all thoughts, all mysteries, all enigmas, all feeling, all desires, every unuttered secret, all thrones and dominions, all personalities, all things visible and invisible in heaven and in earth, motion, space, time, life, death, good, evil, heaven, and hell.
Because God knows all things perfectly, He knows no thing better than any other thing, but all things equally well. He never discovers anything. He is never surprised, never amazed. He never wonders about anything nor (except when drawing men out for their own good) does He seek information or ask questions.
A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy.

Through prayer, we have the ability to come to God, not to inform him of what he already knows, but to discover how he would have us to think and respond to the challenges we face and the people we relate to.  By realizing that God already knows everything, completely and more fully than we ever could, how would our prayers to him change? How would you expect the answers to your prayers change?

In prayer,
·      Thank him for already knowing everything about the concerns you carry to him.
·      Thank him for the people who are diligently working to find solutions to the coronavirus situation.
·      Ask that they might look to him and that he might give them wisdom.
·      Ask that for those who do not even believe in him; that God would lead them as they care for the needs of people, and he would guide their understanding and direct their actions.
·      Pray for our media and newscasters to collect, disseminate and provide us with accurate and true information.

Father, you are the only one who knows all about all things.  We need your help to know how to respond to this crisis in ways that will help people and bring glory to you.  Help us hear your voice amid all the others, help us trust you and live in ways that reveal you and your love.
