Daily Prayer guide - Saturday, March 28, The Faithfulness of God
God is Faithful to his character, word and actions. God always comes through!
Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments
1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
2 Timothy 2:13
if we are faithless, he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself.
One of the things we have come to realize, especially in these recent days, is that things change; often, much and sometimes fast. What we thought we knew yesterday is different today and in times like these it can become easy to loose our bearings, our center, our sense of stability.
God’s faithfulness is one of his strongest attributes – He is always constant in his motives and actions and he can never be anything other.
God being who He is, cannot cease to be what He is, and being what He is, He cannot act out of character with Himself. He is at once faithful and unchanging, so all His words and acts must be and remain faithful. Men become unfaithful out of desire, fear, weakness, loss of interest, or because of some strong influence from without. Obviously none of these forces can affect God in any way. He is His own reason for all He is and does. He cannot be compelled from without, but ever speaks and acts from within Himself by His own sovereign will as it pleases Him.
A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy
Knowing that God is faithful to his Word, then his promises are always true.
Knowing that God is faithful to his actions, then his ways are always right.
Knowing that God is faithful in calling us, then your place with him is secure.
Knowing that God is faithful and eternal, then your hope overcomes any fear.
Knowing that God is faithful gives us strength to live and pray in faith today.
Hebrews 4:14, 16
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Pray in faith…
· Thank him for being a faithful Father who always acts in mercy and grace.
· Thank him for bringing you into relationship with him through forgiveness of your sin.
· Ask him to be merciful to the people in your life, community and country.
· Ask him to restore life where people are suffering
· Ask him to be faithful to the people who are living in the change of jobs and loss of security (food, shelter, medicines…)
· Ask him to be faithful to the employers who are struggling to keep their people employed.
Father, Thank you for being a faithful God who is not dependent upon my faithfulness. You demonstrate your majestic strength by exercising your enduring faithfulness to yourself, to us and to all generations. Amen.
