Johnson - 6 ~ God Moves
God Moves - Rom 10:11-12 “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
“I am glad you called” Mike said, “I was just getting ready to call you, we would like you to fill this position in Fort Worth, if you are still interested. I don’t know what the compensation package will be but if your interested, we would like for you to be in this position.”
That was all the confidence I needed to turn in my resignation, I didn’t know what I would be paid, but I knew I would have a job and I would trust God to provide the right amount.
As I told my boss and co-workers about what was going on, they looked at me dumbfounded. This story was definitely outside of their box of ways to make career moves.
Nearly 3 weeks later, not until we were packing up our home did, the ‘official’ offer come in the mail. They were willing to work around my seminary schedule, pay me a good salary (that would allow me to support my family without Diana working and pay for my masters degree without going into debt), pay all our moving expenses, our storage expenses, even the mortgage on our home in Wichita until it sold (which took a year!)
God moved in some incredible ways – in ways only he could have moved. We were able to move to Fort Worth and begin seminary with incredible confidence that indeed it was God who was calling us and leading us.
Where we were going from there we did not know, but we knew the God who was leading us.
A verse that God gave Diana & I during this time and we saw come to life was:
Is. 30:19
O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. 20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
