Johnson - 3 ~ Do what I know to do
Do what I know to do – Psalms 37:2 "Trust in the Lord and do good..."
I get into Fort Worth, and I am sleeping on the office floor of a friend, John Worchester. He wanted me to go to work for him, but I would have to raise my own support and Diana & I just didn’t have peace about doing that at that time. I only knew two people in Fort Worth, John and Harold Bullock, the pastor of Hope Community Church.
How am I going to find a job that I know exists but don’t know how to find? So, I did the only thing in knew to do, I had a fist full of resume’s in my hand and a newspaper under my arm and I hit the streets. I prayed as I went “God, where do I go”? I was faxing off resume’s, making phone calls, setting up interviews, what else can I do?
Wednesday of that week, I was driving in an area of west Fort Worth, looking for a particular office building, where a company had advertised a technology position. I was in the right area, but having a difficult time finding the address, so I just drove around the area a bit. As I drove around, I saw this other big white building with satellite dishes outside and a sign that said “Southern Baptist Radio & Television Commission” and thought to myself, “that’s interesting, I had no idea the Southern Baptists had anything like that going on”.
As soon as I thought that, another thought came to me as I drove around, “I should go in there to look for a job”…“no, I am going to this other place…but I don’t have an appointment… how bad can this be, I am going to lots of places…” and I found myself by the building again. I pulled over, said a quick prayer and went inside.
