Daily Prayer Guide - Wednesday ~ April 22 - Sheltering with God’s Word

Read:
Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him

2 Tim 2:20-21
In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. 21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

Consider:

It is the Word of God, in the power of God, in the people of God, who can love others and change the world.

We must let God’s Word live in us just like you live in your house.  With more people living day in and day out in the space of your house, God’s Word is to occupy more and more space in your heart and mind.  Where we can say that we are ‘at home in the Gospel story, and let it be at home in you, so that it may be always ready for use’.
When God’s Word lives in our lives, it becomes the most beautiful part of who you and I are, so that we may build others up in the same beauty that God has built us up in to.  Where our lives become like homes that are adorned with beautiful articles of  gold and silver and Gods holiness is preparing us for every good deed that God would have us say and do.

God’s Word is truth, and when it is lived and expressed in real life it becomes God’s wisdom, where things don’t just sound smart, but they actually work in good and right ways for the blessing of people and the honor of God.  The living out of this kind of wisdom sounds like music to the soul.  It is the kind of music creation exhibits in the natural song of a bird, always in tune and brings joy to our hearts.

We know we are living out the wise truth of God’s Word when we experience a passionate gratitude to God from our hearts.  It is a deep and heart felt gratitude that wells up from within us like the joy of a song.

As we have been spending much more time around the same walls of our homes and the same people of our lives, let God’s Word live in you, occupying your thoughts, influencing your attitudes, setting the pace of your actions.  Then we live our lives, in whatever we think, whatever we say, and whatever we set our hands to accomplish, it all becomes an expression of the grace of God demonstrated in the Word of God, in the power of God in the people of God who will love and change the world – because God’s Word dwells in us richly.
Prayer: Father, Thank you for your Word.  Your Word is true and leads me towards your wisdom.  May your Word occupy more and more of my thoughts, attitudes and the things I say so those around me would see and experience you in my life.

·      Thank God for the influence of his Word in your life.
·      Allow a passage of his Word to come to your mind and recite it as a prayer to him now.
·      Ask him to build more of his Word into your life.
·      Ask him how, according to his Word, you should respond to this matter in your life.
·      Pray for the families living around your home to know and experience his peace in a way that they will acknowledge him.
·      Pray that his word would bring strength to our leaders who are making important decisions that will influence our lives.
Father, Thank you for your Word.  Let it become the most beautiful part of my life influencing the things I say and do, for the sake in in the name of your son Jesus.     Amen

Meditate:
Colossians 3:17
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
